Grand Eclectus
The following pictures and descriptions demonstrate the differences between the
Red-sided and Grand Eclectus.

If your bird has any combination of these characteristics, it is a hybrid of one or more subspecies.

The Red-sided hen has a blue ring around the eye.

The Grand hen does not have an eye ring.

The tail of the Red-sided hen stays red all the way to the tip.

The tail of the Grand hen is dusky orange. At first glance it may appear to be yellow,
but if you look closely, you will find it never acutally becomes yellow.

The chest feathers of the Red-sided Eclectus is blue while the chest of the Grand is purple or violet.

Both have distinct red bibs separting the red from the chest feathers.
